About Us

Flying Colors Miniature Horses is owned and managed by Carol Lane and Greg Tresan. Carol Lane inherited her love of horses from a long line of equestriennes, including her mother, Becky Lane Wolcott, who owned and managed a stable of show ponies, Cotton Croft. Carol Lane grew up in Louisiana and Texas, showing Welsh ponies, then thoroughbreds. She rode dressage, hunter/jumpers and eventing, and earned local, regional and national championships. Carol Lane was the Captain of the University of Texas Equestrian Team in college. She then moved to Atlanta and assumed the position of Competition Director for the Foxhall Cup CCI***, the National Championship of Eventing, and an Olympic qualifier. She now enjoys sharing her love of horses with her daughter Devon Lane, and breeding, raising, training and campaigning miniature horses.

Carol Lane and her husband Greg own and operate Atlanta Dogworks, a commercial dog training and boarding facility, as well as provider of animal wranglers and talent for film, TV, print and music videos. Carol Lane is the Sport Organizer for the ESPN Great Outdoor Games Hot Zone and the Event Director of the International Disc Dog Handlers' Association, producing Frisbee dog competitions across the country. Greg is the Executive Director of the IDDHA. Carol Lane and Greg compete in Frisbee, herding, and dock diving, and enjoy dryland mushing and wakeskating with their dogs as well. Flying Colors is home to more than just miniature horses. There is also Prada, the miniature donkey, as well as Carol Lane's second childhood pony, a palomino Welsh Cob named Josh, and her young Friesian sporthorse filly, Dark Diva (a Georgian Grande - Friesian x Saddlebred). Carol Lane also loves her menagerie of dogs, cats, sheep and chickens.

Though Carol Lane is relatively new to the world of showing miniature horses, she attributes her quick success to some very knowledgeable people in the breed. Immediately, she was lucky enough to meet Ricky Wardlaw and Justin Kollack of Cygnet Farm. Their friendship and advise has meant everything. Ricky helped choose ShowTime, and handled him in the ring to his Championships, Grand Championships and National Top 10 Championships. Ricky's expertise in everything from evaluating mares and foals to training driving horses has been invaluable. Ricky is even training three year old Devon Lane to victory in the Youth Halter classes! Carol Lane can not thank them enough for making their first few years in the breed so memorable.
